Based on research on the development of education in museums and the importance of the arts in child’s development, the Master’s final work Planear um Projeto Educativo – da Pesquisa à Memória da Experiência, in addition to focusing on the importance of educational services in museums, it consists of the planning and structuring of the educational project As Cidades de Vieira da Silva, an example for a potential involvement and collaboration between middle schools and the Museu Arpad Szenes – Vieira da Silva, in Lisbon. The project, which consists of four activities developed from specific works by the artist Vieira da Silva, aims to promote the work of the painter and the museum in question, encourage closer relations between school communities and museums, and develop skills of creativity and visual culture in students. All activities are based on the concepts of (urban) space, time, memory and personal identity using abstractionism and geometrization. Each activity has different typologies, using different techniques and materials, and the application of different subthemes and methods, with individual and collective activities carried out in different spaces, with half of the activities taking place in schools and the other half at the Museu Arpad Szenes – Vieira da Silva. Divided into two parts, the work also includes the theory resulting from research on the evolution of museums as places of learning, the development of educational services and the study of partnerships between museums and schools, as well as the positive results to be withdraw from them. Essential topics to consolidate the planning and structure of the educational project.
