Preliminary results on the Gaulish terra sigillata from the fish-salting production centre at Tróia

The fish-salting production centre at Troia received various imports of terra sigillata from the 1st century to the 6th century.
Although it did not reach the significance of the African Red Slip Ware, Gaulish Sigillata is the second most important group of imports of this category on this archaeological site.
The recognition of a Tiberian foundation level with Gaulish vessels dates the arrival of this tableware. Nevertheless, we agree with the assumption of previous studies that the majority of the pieces from this assemblage corresponds to the Claudian period onwards.
The purpose of this paper is to present the current state regarding terra sigillata studies at Troia, more precisely related to the Gaulish productions and their significance in the largest fish-salting centre of the Roman Empire.

Vila Nova de São Pedro e a Arqueologia Pública - a consolidação de um projecto através dos agentes da sua história

Em 2017, a Associação dos Arqueólogos Portugueses iniciou um projecto de investigação para o povoado calcolítico de Vila Nova de São Pedro (Azambuja, Portugal), com o objectivo de valorizar, através do conhecimento científico, um sítio arqueológico com grande destaque no percurso historiográfico da Arqueologia ibérica.
Uma das vertentes do projecto VNSP3000 foi, desde o primeiro momento, a recuperação das memórias ligadas a este sítio arqueológico e às sucessivas campanhas de escavação que aí decorreram, através do registo dos relatos daqueles que lá trabalharam e constituem uma parte fundamental da Identidade de Vila Nova de São Pedro. Esta Arqueologia da Memória tem sido trabalhada através de diversas actividades, interligada com numerosas acções de Arqueologia Pública, trazendo VNSP e as suas histórias (calcolíticas e contemporâneas) para a sociedade civil. Estas actividades (visitas, dias abertos, workshops, palestras, publicações, refeições e momentos lúdicos), realizadas em colaboração com diversas instituições parceiras, possibilitam uma eficaz e efectiva disseminação e transmissão do conhecimento a públicos muito diversos.
The Gaulish terra sigillata in Baelo Claudia. Analysis of the contexts from the 'Puerta de Carteia'

A contextualized study of the sigillata from an excavation at the so-called East or Carteia Gate in Baelo Claudia is presented. This work revealed the transformation that this area of the city underwent from the Julio-Claudian era to the 6th century AD. Construction debris, rubbish dumps, as well as material from a funerary context all contribute to compose a very complete image of how the commercial pattern of consumption of fine wares appears in this important settlement: and so reveals more of the dynamics of trade in the Straits of Gibraltar.

The Roman Amphitheater of Ammaia (Hispania-Lusitania) is a new archaeological discovery, an example of a Roman provincial model in the public buildings of spectacles. In this article we analyse different aspects: its discovery, constructive elements and building characteristics, as well as its chronology, use and abandonment. Its model can be included in the provincial examples of Lusitania, where five amphitheatres have been documented to date.
