XV International Congress of Medicine
The XV International Congress of Medicine, held in Lisbon between the 19th and 26th of April 1906, was an important milestone in the evolution of Portuguese Medicine in the 20th century. During the event, the greatest exponents of medicine were attracted to Lisbon, including some Nobel Prize winners. Portugal was far from the paths of progress in Medicine that were then flourishing and it is considered that, from this contact with foreign congressmen, the process that led to the emergence of the so-called Generation of 1911 would emerge in the newly created Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon. This was perhaps the high point of Portuguese Medicine in the first half of the 20th century.
