A escolha pela Federação Portuguesa de Futebol como local de estágio surgiu por ser uma instituição desportiva de referência e pela boa gestão que tem realizado nos últimos anos. O meu estágio foi realizado no Departamento da Unidade de Saúde e Performance. Os elevados níveis de profissionalismo atingidos no futebol exigem uma preocupação com todas as áreas que influenciam diretamente o desempenho dos atletas. Podemos afirmar que a área da saúde é decisiva no rendimento, atuando sobretudo a nível preventivo e terapêutico. A intervenção médica no desporto ainda é um fator bastante negligenciado por parte das organizações de desporto, o que acaba por influenciar negativamente a performance e a carreira dos jogadores, e consequentemente os resultados desportivos. O principal objetivo deste relatório é descrever as atividades realizadas ao longo do estágio e, a partir daí, entender o contributo e importância de um departamento médico-desportivo.This internship report is the final step to complete the Masters in Sports Management at the Faculty of Human Kinetics. The main purpose of this report is to describe the activities performed in the internship, and understand the contribution and importance of a medical-sports department. The choice of the Portuguese Football Federation as a place of internship was made because it is a reference sports institution and for the good sports management that it has performed in recent years. My internship was held in the Department of Health and Performance Unit. The high levels of professionalism achieved in football requires the existence of a concern with all areas that directly influence athletes’ performance. We can affirm that the health area is decisive in the performance, acting above all in the preventive and therapeutic level.
