This communication is normally done through a plug, regulated by a control system. This control system is located both in the vehicle and in the charger, and it allows communication between them so that the charging process is performed with success. This dissertation aims to study and develop the entire hardware system of a Supply Equipment Communication Controller (SECC) in form of a printed circuit board (PCB), that controls the communication between the vehicle and the charging station. This board will be part of the charging station, it will have a microprocessor (MPU), that will be programmed to generate a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal at 1 kHz and 5% duty-cycle, responsible for defining the different states of the charging process. It will also feature an integrated circuit (IC) that will implement power-line communication (PLC) technology at 2-30 MHz through the HomePlug Green PHY (HPGP) protocol. The PLC signal generated on top of the PWM signal will then form a final modulated signal responsible for the entire communication. The internal communication on the board between the MPU and the PLC IC will be done by Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) and Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C). For external communications, this board will have Ethernet (ETH), Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART), Universal Serial Bus (USB), and Controller Area Network (CAN) protocols available. In addition to hardware development, it is intended to test the new SECC by sending a PLC message. The rules for EV charging with a plug are based on the IEC 61851 standard principles. In the same way, the different communication stages between the vehicle and the charger are based on the Open Systems Interconnection model (OSI model) where the ISO 15118 and DIN 70121 standards will be implemented.engveículos elétricostécnicas de carregamentocontrolo de comunicaçãomodulação por largura de pulsoprotocolos de comunicaçãoTeses de mestrado - 2023Development of a Communication Board for Electric Vehicle Chargersmaster thesis203525183
