XIX) e no contemporâneo (atualidade). Na investigação é explorada a capacidade que o espaço doméstico tem de se transformar e adaptar através dos conceitos da flexibilidade, adaptabilidade e mutabilidade, como resposta ao desfasamento dos modelos habitacionais perante a vida moderna. E ainda como solução face às evoluções e transformações da sociedade e da tecnologia, que consequentemente vieram alterar as formas de habitar e mudar as necessidades e exigências habitacionais. Mostrando a urgência de repensar a lógica interna dos espaços domésticos e a importância de criar habitações sensíveis que sejam capazes de se adaptar e responder às necessidades diversas e imprevisíveis da vida contemporânea. A Baixa Pombalina surgiu da reconstrução da cidade antiga de Lisboa, consequência do grande terramoto, maremoto e incêndio que ocorreram no dia 1 de novembro de 1755. Este acontecimento, apesar de trágico, possibilitou a reformulação do centro histórico da cidade, criando as bases do que virá a ser o urbanismo moderno. Assim como, a criação de um novo estilo arquitetónico inovador e único. Que merece ser preservado pelo seu valor patrimonial e cultural e pelas suas qualidades arquitetónicas e construtivas excecionais. Para além da compreensão da arquitetura residencial pombalina e da sua organização interior, foi também procurado compreender a evolução da Baixa Pombalina, desde o plano de reconstrução até ao presente. Avaliando o seu estado atual, as transformações a que os edifícios originais pombalinos foram sujeitos ao longo dos séculos e percebendo a forma como a Baixa é hoje habitada. Para analisar a adaptabilidade e mutabilidade dos edifícios pombalinos, foram estudados três edifícios em Lisboa, com características originais semelhantes, mas que foram sujeitos a pressões de transformação diferentes. Com este trabalho, pretendemos avaliar qual a capacidade dos edifícios pombalinos se adaptarem à vida, cujos hábitos são de natureza evolutiva. Baixa Pombalina emerged from the reconstruction of the old city of Lisbon, as consequence of the big earthquake, seaquake and fire that occurred on November first of 1755. This event, although tragic, made it possible to reformulate the historic center of the city, creating the foundations of what will be the modern urbanism. As well the creation of a new innovative and unique architectural style. Which deserves to be preserved for its heritage and cultural value and for its exceptional architectural and constructive qualities. In addition to understanding pombaline residential architecture and its interior organization, an attempt was also made to understand the evolution of Baixa Pombalina, from the reconstruction plan to the present. Evaluating its current state, the transformations to which the original Pombaline buildings were submitted over the centuries and realizing the way in which Baixa is inhabited today. To analyze the adaptability and mutability of pombaline buildings, three buildings in Lisbon were studied, with similar original characteristics, but which one of them were submitted to different transformation pressures. With this work, it intend to assess the capacity of pombaline buildings to adapt to the life, whose habits are of an evolutionary nature.
