No entanto, ainda existem lacunas no estudo empírico da inovação sustentável numa perspetiva de rede. Este estudo explora porquê e como é que as redes de inovação sustentável contribuem para a transição sustentável das redes de negócios existentes. Com base em entrevistas realizadas a três empresas portuguesas, realizou-se um estudo de múltiplos casos, analisando seis projetos de inovação sustentável nos setores da pedra, dos transportes e do design industrial. Este estudo concentra-se na interação entre os três níveis micro, meso e macro, bem como entre diferentes redes de valor, no processo de disseminação da inovação sustentável. Os resultados indicam que as redes de inovação sustentável contribuem significativamente para o reforço da reputação das empresas, promovendo assim a transição sustentável. Porém, os benefícios dessas redes de inovação sustentável para as redes de negócios existentes podem manifestar-se de forma defasada e com elevada incerteza quanto aos resultados. Este estudo ressalta que a redução da incerteza parece estar fortemente associada à formação de redes de inovação sustentável com entidades com as quais existe um elevado conhecimento mútuo e confiança.The sustainable transition in the sectors of natural stone, transport, and industrial design is significant in terms of reducing resource waste and carbon footprint, but it depends largely on the overlap between sustainable innovation networks and current business nets. However, there remain gaps in the empirical study of sustainable innovation from a network perspective. This study explores why and how sustainable innovation networks contribute to the sustainable transition of current business nets. Based on interviews with three Portuguese companies, a multiple-case study was conducted, analyzing six sustainable innovation projects in the stone, transport, and industrial design sectors. This study focuses on the interaction between the micro, meso, and macro levels, as well as between different value networks, in the process of disseminating sustainable innovation. The results indicate that sustainable innovation networks contribute significantly to the reputation of companies, thereby promoting sustainable transition. However, the benefits of these sustainable innovation networks for current business nets may manifest with a time lag and involve considerable uncertainty regarding the results.
