This growth requires sustainable practices. Taking advantages from the complementary functions of the organisms in the ecosystem, the bioremediation technology Integrated Multitrophic Aquaculture proposes to balance the abundance of organisms, avoiding the instability caused by the massive introduction of fed aquaculture. In this study, developed in the Rio Grande do Norte State (Brazil), juvenile shrimps Litopenaeus vannamei (2,78 g ± 0,29 initial weight) and seaweeds were co-cultured in exterior tanks (100 L), during four weeks. Three treatments were evaluated: shrimp monoculture, co-culture with Gracilaria birdiae e co-culture with Ulva fasciata (coUF). All experimental groups were fed with a commercial pellet, at a daily ration of 5% shrimp biomass. The organisms incorporated in the system were beneficed mutually. The two seaweeds used the residual nitrogen nutrients of the animal production for their growth, removing 95% of nitrite and nitrate. The water quality improved and the nutrients in the effluents decreased. The zootecnic performance was superior in coUF. The fresh Ulva complemented the animal nutrition and improved the specific growth rate in 40%.porintegrated multitrophic aquacultureco-cultureLitopenaeus vannameiGracilaria birdiaeUlva fasciatabioremediationAvaliação do desempenho do camarão Litopenaeus vannamei e das macroalgas Gracilaria birdiae e Ulva fasciata num sistema de cultivo multitrófico integradomaster thesis201920913
