O estágio centrou-se na prática da legendagem contemporânea, visando aplicar os conhecimentos teóricos adquiridos e desenvolver um olhar crítico sobre os desafios atuais da profissão. Através do manuseamento de ferramentas especializadas como o OOONA e da execução de diversas tarefas, desde a tradução e legendagem interlinguística à legendagem para surdos e ensurdecidos, foi possível aprofundar competências em segmentação, temporização e adaptação cultural. A análise da prática confronta o passado da Tradução Audiovisual em Portugal, historicamente constrangida pela censura, com os desafios presentes. Argumenta-se que, apesar da sua maturação, o setor ainda revela manifestações de um passado censório, agora sob a forma de práticas motivadas por constrangimentos comerciais, como a neutralização sistemática de linguagem tabu. Em suma, esta experiência profissional permitiu consolidar métodos de trabalho e fundamentar a tese de que a plena maturação da legendagem passa por consolidar a distinção entre a omissão por receio e a adaptação por competência, valorizando o papel do tradutor como mediador ético e consciente.This report describes the curricular internship carried out at the company Sintagma, as an integral part of the Master's in Translation at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. The internship focused on the practice of contemporary subtitling, aiming to apply acquired theoretical knowledge and develop a critical perspective on the current challenges of the profession. Through the use of specialised tools such as OOONA and the execution of a variety of tasks, from interlingual translation and subtitling to transcription for the deaf and hard-ofhearing, it was possible to deepen skills in segmentation, timing, and cultural adaptation. The analysis of this practice confronts the past of Audiovisual Translation in Portugal, historically constrained by censorship, with present-day challenges. It is argued that, despite its maturation, the field still exhibits remnants of a censorial past, now in the form of practices driven by commercial constraints, such as the systematic neutralisation of taboo language. In summary, this professional experience not only consolidated working methods but also substantiated the thesis that the full maturation of subtitling requires consolidating the distinction between omission out of fear and adaptation out of competence, valuing the translator's role as an ethical and conscious mediator.application/pdfpormaster thesis204125162
