A sua mais profunda e antiga essência reside aqui e é a matriz do seu desenvolvimento ao longo de vários séculos. Nos últimos tempos têm-se verificado um apagar da identidade deste lugar com origem num forte processo de gentrificação. Pretende-se, então, estudar estas áreas segundo duas temáticas principais identificadas como parte da definição de uma personalidade cada mais desvanecida. Essas temáticas traduzem-se em sistemas, o sistema defensivo e o sistema hídrico. O primeiro relacionado com os elementos e espaços associados à muralha, o segundo relativo à forma como a água é, ou foi, encarada neste lugar e os tipos de relação com ela estabelecidos ao longo dos anos. Derivado desse estudo e da sua interpretação surge o projeto, com foco de intervenção no Pátio de Dom Fradique, que reestrutura o sistema defensivo ligado à Alcáçova e reinventa um sistema hídrico que assume a água como elemento qualificador de espaço urbano e gerador de uma série de programas histórico, cultural, espacial e socialmente pensados para o lugar onde se posicionam. O projeto revisita e reinterpreta um conjunto de vivências, tradições e espaços desenhando um lugar que cose e é cosido pela sua envolvente.The area of Castelo de São Jorge and Alfama is the root of the city of Lisbon. Its deepest and oldest nature resides here and is the foundation of its development over several centuries. In recent times, an erasure of the identity of this place has been noticed, originated from a strong process of gentrification. The aim, then, is to study these areas according to two main themes identified as part of the definition of an increasingly fading personality. These themes are translated into systems, the defensive system and the water system. The first related to the elements and spaces associated with the city’s wall, the second related to the way water is, or was, perceived in this place and the types of relationships established with it over the years. The project is raised from this study and its interpretation and focuses its intervention in the Pátio de Dom Fradique area. It restructures the defensive system linked to the Alcáçova and reinvents a water system that assumes this element as something that can improve urban space living and generate several historical, cultural, spatial and social programs designed for the place where they are located.
