Para isto, são analisados os temas do património e da sua salvaguarda ao longo da história, destacando-se os critérios que se utilizaram no projeto de intervenção. Associado a esta salvaguarda, debate-se o uso do turismo, os seus limites e benefícios quando associado ao património e o seu contributo para o desenvolvimento sustentável do mesmo. Individualiza-se neste panorama o Turismo de Habitação em meio rural, que se distingue pela vinculação na cultura local onde se insere. Para exemplificar, são apresentados casos de estudo que servem como referências projetuais dos temas abordados. Face ao edifício eleito, o Paço de Tentúgal, analisa-se o local – a freguesia de Tentúgal, em Montemor-o-Velho – e estuda-se o objeto de trabalho em questão, inclusive o seu contexto das habitações nobres em Portugal. Como culminar deste trabalho é apresentado o projeto de reabilitação do Paço de Tentúgal para Turismo de Habitação, assente em e guiado por toda a pesquisa realizada e exposta. Com este, pretende-se alcançar o objetivo inicial – a salvaguarda do próprio Paço.ABSTRACT: The present work is about giving a practical response to the question of protecting and salvaging heritage, for what it symbolizes socially, by gaining value in a framework of a wider cultural context. In order to do this, heritage themes and it’s protection and salvage throughout history are analyzed, highlighting the criteria used in the intervention project. Associated with this protection and salvage, the use of tourism, it’s limits and benefits when associated with heritage and it’s contribution for the sustainable development of the latter are debated. In this scenery, the Housing Tourism in a rural context is individualized, which distinguishes itself for the link in the local culture where it operates. After this, case studies are presented that serve as project references of the themes approached. Over the elected building, Paço de Tentúgal, the location – Tentúgal in Montemor-o-Velho – and the work’s object in question are analyzed, including the latter’s noble housing context in Portugal. As the climax of this work, the rehabilitation project of Paço de Tentúgal for Housing Tourism is presented, based in and guided by all the research done and exposed.
