O comércio luso-brasileiro intensificou-se após Portugal aderir ao Sistema Monetário Europeu em 1992 e com a implementação do Plano Real no Brasil em 1994. A concentração relativa das relações luso-brasileiras realiza-se entre dois países com uma cultura, história e língua comum, mas com diferentes níveis de desenvolvimento. A nossa análise incidiu no comércio luso-brasileiro para os cinquenta principais produtos ao longo da década de noventa, através dos cálculos dos seguintes indicadores: indicador de Verdoorn; as vantagens comparativas reveladas; termos de troca; os indicadores de Grubel e Lloyd em termos globais e relativos e os indicadores de comércio intra-sectorial marginal de Brulhart, ao nível do país e dos principais produtos. Após termos uma percepção do tipo de ajustamento estrutural em termos globais, calculámos os indicadores de comércio marginal para o início e o meio da década e para o meio e o final da década.This dissertation explains the development of trade between Portugal and Brazil, by analysing the contribution of intra-industry trade and the weight of comparative advantages. The Luso-Brazilian trade was intensified after Portugal acihered to the European Monetary System in 1992, and after the implementation of the Real Plan in Brazil, 1994. This relative concentration of Luso-Brazilian trade occurrs between two countries with a common culture, history and language, but with different leveis of development. The Luso-Brazilian trade of the main fifty products during the decade of 1990 was measured through the calculation of the following indexes: the Verdoorn index; the comparative advantages; the terms of trade; the indexes of Grubel and Lloyd for the intraindustry trade, and the marginal intra-industry trade of Brulhart, at the levei of the country and of main products.
