I do not intend to answer this question, but rather to imagine, through the creation of an autofictional comic, what would happen if I, the author, were to die and be sent to my interpretation of the Christian purgatory, where I would seek to achieve both a narrative and personal catharsis. This project for the Master’s in Drawing is divided into two parts. The first, theoretical part delves into the concepts of purgatory, catharsis, and autofiction, exploring their representations in art and popular culture throughout history and in contemporary times. This framework provides a foundation for understanding how art can express and reinterpret these complex and universal themes. The second part focuses on the practical description of the development of the comic No Céu Ninguém Me Quis (“In Heaven, No One Wanted Me”), from its conception to its completion, addressing the writing of the plot, main inspirations, creation of original characters and settings, along with aesthetic choices and the construction of the panels. The resulting work is a personal and symbolic interpretation of purgatory, understood as a space of transformation and emotional expiation, where the protagonist seeks cathartic release through an introspective journey. Using purgatory as a metaphor, this project aims not only to communicate a personal experience but also, through the combination of theory and practice, to explore the creative process as a vehicle for expression and inner growth, while the comic invites the reader to reflect on their own journey of changeporPurgatórioCatarseAutoficçãoBanda DesenhadaMemória PessoalDesenhoPurgatório, catarse e memória pessoal: projeto de autoficção em banda desenhadamaster thesis203911563
