Este elemento não só deu vida aos seres que na Terra existem, e existiram, mas também ao espaço em que habitam. O desenvolvimento das cidades do nosso quotidiano deve-se à presença de corpos de água, que abastecem o ser humano, a biodiversidade que o rodeia e as terras em que cultiva. Lisboa é uma cidade que se define pela água, dada a sua proximidade ao Rio Tejo e aos diversos sistemas de circulação que durante a história foram nascendo, unindo a população em diferentes pontos espalhados pelo seu terreno. No entanto, esta relação tem-se vindo a desvanecer, com a canalização subterrânea das águas e a presença de elementos separadores na margem do rio, consequentemente separando os habitantes da cidade do seu meio natural. Durante esta ensaio serão questionadas as propriedades da água como elemento de união quando inserido no meio arquitetónico, analisando o potencial do seu impacto nas diferentes escalas: urbana; espacial e pessoal. Este estudo procura restaurar a ligação entre a cidade de Lisboa e a água, renaturalizando o Vale Escuro até ao aterro de Santa Apolónia.Water is essential for life; in fact, it was the existence of this natural medium that allowed the planet we know today to evolve.
