Amostra: O estudo conta com 71 participantes, mães de bebés entre os seis e os doze meses, com idades compreendidas entre os 21 e 40 anos. A amostra foi recolhida através da plataforma Qualtrics. Instrumentos: Foi apresentada a Folha de Consentimento Informado. Após a sua leitura, as participantes eram convidadas a assinar este documento. Depois de este procedimento, as participantes passaram ao preenchimento do Questionário Sociodemográfico e Clínico e dos seguintes instrumentos: Escala de Depressão Pós Parto de Edinburgh (EPDS); Inventário da Perceção Materna da Intersubjetividade do Bebé na Relação Precoce (IPMIBRP); Questionário da Diferença Bebé Imaginário/Bebé Real (QDBIBR) e, por fim, Questionário das Características do Bebé (QCB). Hipóteses: Espera-se que a variável depressão pós-parto apresente contributos significativos para a explicação da variância estatística das variáveis dependentes perceção materna da participação do bebé na intersubjetividade da díade, temperamento do bebé e diferença entre bebé imaginário e bebé real. Resultados: As hipóteses específicas confirmadas foram a 3, 4, 5, 6 (diferença bebé imaginário vs. bebé real) e 9 (escala completa do temperamento do bebé). As hipóteses 1 e 2 não se confirmaram; a depressão pós-parto não influencia de forma significativa a perceção da intersubjetividade nem da competência do bebé na relação mãe-bebé. As hipóteses 7 e 8 também foram rejeitadas; não se verificando um contributo significativo relativamente às subescalas da perceção do temperamento do bebé.Goal: The aim of this study is to test the possible influence of postpartum depression on the maternal perception of the infant in behavioral, emotional and relational components in the early mother-infant interaction. Sample: Participants (N = 71) were mothers of infants between six and twelve months, with ages between 21 and 40 years old. The sample was recruited using Qualtrics platform. Instruments: The Informed Consent was presented to the participants. After reading it, participants were invited to sign it. After this procedure, participants filled the Clinical and Sociodemographic Questionnaire, and the following instruments: Edinburgh Post-Partum Depression Scale (EPDS); Inventory about the Maternal Perception of the Infant’s Intersubjectivity in the Early Relationship (IMPIIER); Questionnaire about the Difference Between the Imaginary Infant and the Real Infant (QDBIIRI) and, finally, the Infant’s Characteristics Questionnaire (IQC). Hypotheses: It is expected that the variable postpartum depression contributes significantly to the explanation of the statistical variance of the dependent variable maternal perception of the participation of the infant in intersubjectivity, in the infant’s temperament and in the difference between the real infant and the imagined infant. Results: Hypotheses 3, 4, 5, 6 (difference between the imaginary vs. the real infant) and 9 (total scale of the infant’s temperament) were confirmed. However, hypotheses 1 and 2 were not confirmed, showing that postpartum depression does not influence the maternal perception of intersubjectivity, neither the baby competences in the relation.
