In this amplification, Josephus makes use of his Hellenistic tools and recreates a scene of Necromancy with evident resonances in the surrounding cultures, being Josephus’ passage comparable to, and probably influenced by, other Greek texts and Latin narratives as the Odyssey, the Persians by Aeschylus, the Hecale by Callimachus, the Metamorphoses by Ovid and, above all, the Pharsalia or On the Civil War by Lucanus.
