For this propose a work unit based on the “form” subject was developed. The main goal of the proposed work unit was to underline the relevance of the Artistic Education on the global development of the students, adolescents, including creativity and critical reasoning. References to the artistic work of some Portuguese authors were addressed in order to encourage the target students towards artistic knowledge. Some masterpieces of the artist Joaquim Rodrigo were included in the work unit and thus some bibliographic notes were presented and the artistic work was briefly reviewed. The proposed work unit was tested with two groups of students from different schools. The implemented methodology was presented and discussed. The collected data were analyzed. Some approaches to experimental painting were described since students must be familiarized with materials and methods. For the studied individuals their ability to express through painting was strongly dependent on their skills to manipulate painting materials. The critical thinking and creative behavior, inherent to the analyzed age group, was observed with characteristics of the transition from childhood to adolescence. From data arise that teachers play a major role on the students motivation and can significantly enhance the class room creativity.
