A detailed analysis of 110 HRSC images spanning approximately six Martian years was performed, using QGIS for identifying and analysing cloud formations and wave characteristics in the Martian atmosphere. Our investigation revealed the presence of 101 wave packets, with 50 subjected to in-depth morphological study. This analysis encompassed the measurement of horizontal wavelengths, packet dimensions, and orientation, yielding insights into Martian atmospheric behaviours. The spatial distribution of detected wave packets, predominantly in the northern mid-to-high latitudes, highlighted the influence of Martian topography and atmospheric dynamics on gravity wave formation. Seasonal patterns were also observed, with a notable increase in wave occurrences during the early northern hemisphere spring and late winter, and a decrease during Martian dust storm seasons. This research enhances our understanding of Martian atmospheric phenomena and provides valuable insights for future explorations of Mars and comparative studies of planetary atmospheres.engMarteDinâmica AtmosféricaOndas GravitacionaisMars ExpressHRSCTeses de mestrado - 2024Characterising Atmospheric Waves on Mars using Mars Express (ESA) HRSC imagesmaster thesis203683307
