Ao aprofundar o tema de bairro, inevitavelmente é necessário falar do social, ou de habitação social, já que os dois estão eternamente ligados, como é o caso do bairro Marechal Carmona sobre o qual será apresentada a proposta de intervenção. O principal objetivo parte de propor uma habitação digna e uma estrutura urbana que preserve a cultura social do bairro, não ocultando os valores nem a sua memória, tanto como a permanência dos que lá habitam, ainda existe o objetivo de criar uma melhor relação entre o bairro e a cidade. Simultaneamente existe o desejo de perceber o porquê do estigma e da falta de “cuidado” que levou ao mesmo, percorrendo parte da história do fenómeno e olhando para exemplos em Portugal. O propósito da intervenção será potencializar então um espaço digno de melhores condições criando um diálogo entre a memória do local, lugar, ideologias, práticas e as pessoas. O projeto consiste em apresentar soluções de habitações para o realojamento dos atuais moradores e que estejam preparadas para a chegada de novos, mantendo a memória e criando outras novas.The title ‘Another look at (the) neighborhood’ derives from the stigma that exists over them. When deepening the theme of neighborhood, it is inevitably necessary to talk about the social, or social housing, since the two are eternally linked, as is the case of the Marechal Carmona neighborhood on which the intervention proposal will emerge. The main objective is to produce decent housing and an urban structure that preserves the social culture of the neighborhood, not hiding the values or its memory, as well as the permanence of those who live there, there is still the objective of creating a better relationship between the neighborhood and the city. At the same time, there is a desire to understand the reason for the stigma and the lack of “care” that led to it, covering part of the phenomenon's history and looking at examples in Portugal. The purpose of the intervention will then be to enhance a space worthy of better conditions by creating a dialogue between the memory of the place, place, ideologies, practices and people.
