Francisco de Mendoça, precedidas de uma introdução que atende aspectos biográficos e contextuais essenciais, assim como a estrutura e características da obra editada. A fixação do texto realizou-se contemplando as edições de 1632, 1633, 1635, 1650 e 1701, conservadas nas Bibliotecas do Colégio Jesuíta da Conceição de Alcalá, na Biblioteca Nacional da República Checa, na Biblioteca Nacional e na Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra. Cotejando os exemplares disponíveis em formato virtual, exceto o de 1650, disponível na Biblioteca da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa. Depois da edição, dá-se prosseguimento à tradução, que incorporou notas consideradas pertinentes para a inteleção do texto traduzido, compreendidas como ponto de partida para uma futura edição da obra.The aim of this dissertation is to present the European Portuguese translation and a new edition of the Latin text of the “Progrymnasma in Artem Rhetoricae”, inserted in the seventh book of “Viridarium” by Father S.J. Francisco de Mendoça, preceded by an introduction that addresses essential biographical and contextual aspects, as well as the structure and characteristics of the edited work. The fixing of the text was carried out contemplating the editions of 1632, 1633, 1635, 1650 and 1701, preserved in the Libraries of the Jesuit College of Conceição de Alcalá, in the National Library of the Czech Republic, in the National Library and in the General Library of the University of Coimbra. Comparing the copies available in virtual format, except the one from 1650, available at the Library of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon.
