This information beyond its historical value may also contribute to the restoration projects of historic gardens, making known, which tree species used at time. To address this issue, three gardens have been selected – Ajuda Botanic Garden, Tapada das Necessidades and Jardim da Estrela - these gardens created, during the mentioned historical period, played a significant role in the enrichment of its botanical collections. For each case, will be made a research of historical documents regarding to the composition of the garden (catalogs and inventories), the arboreal current species and a synthesis of all this information collected.
