Com efeito, se atendermos ao fato de os poemas homéricos e a obra atribuída a Hesíodo serem os mais antigos testemunhos literários conhecidos da cultura dos gregos, então, parece-nos mais do que evidente que a ideia de «caos» e de desordem ou ataxia foi objeto de reflexão por parte dos poetas desde pelo menos o século VIII a.C. Este ensaio pretende analisar três casos da mitologia em que essas ideias parecem o tema de base que os estrutura: os mitos da Gigantomaquia, da Centauromaquia e da Amazonomaquia.The idea of “vacuum” seems to have been present in Greek culture almost from the its beginning. Indeed, if we look at the fact that the Homeric Poems and the work attributed to Hesiod are the earliest known literary testimonies of the Greeks’ culture, then it seems to us more than evident that the ideas of “chaos” and disorder or ataxia have been the subject of reflection by poets since at least the eighth century BC.
