A investigação considera intervenções de correção de textos de estudantes de PLE com dois níveis de proficiência (A2 e C1) e analisa as categorias de erro presentes nas intervenções de correção (humanas e automáticas), nomeadamente interpretação, convenções linguísticas e estilo. Os resultados revelam que, embora o LLM apresente boa capacidade para detetar e corrigir erros formais, sobretudo gramaticais e ortográficos, tende a reformular os textos originais de forma excessiva, especialmente nos produzidos por estudantes de níveis iniciais, o que pode afetar a progressão linguística dos alunos. O estudo evidencia ainda o potencial do modelo como apoio ao trabalho docente, sobretudo na correção de textos de estudantes mais avançados, contribuindo para a melhoria da clareza textual e da correção linguística.This study evaluates the effectiveness of ChatGPT-4 in the automated correction of texts written by Chinese learners of Portuguese as a foreign language (PFL) and compares the results with those obtained from teachers’ corrections. The research examines correction interventions in texts produced by students at two proficiency levels (A2 and C1) and analyses the error categories present in these correction interventions (both human and automated), namely interpretation, linguistic conventions, and style. The findings indicate that, although the LLM shows strong ability in detecting and correcting formal errors, particularly grammatical and spelling ones, it tends to over-rewrite the original texts, especially those produced by beginnerlevel students, which may hinder linguistic development.
