Este trabalho centra-se nas técnicas de tratamento de superfície dos recipientes cerâmicos, mais concretamente na aplicação de engobes e aguadas de tonalidade vermelha. Com esta reflexão pretendemos valorizar o sentido estético e simbólico da cor vermelha na cultura material das comunidades do Neolítico final / Calcolítico no Sudoeste peninsular, uma vez que se trata de um tema pouco abordado nos trabalhos arqueológicos mais recentes.The archaeological site of São Pedro (Redondo, Alentejo), occupied between the end of the 4th and most of the 3rd millennium BCE presents a wide set of ceramic containers with diversified morphological, metric and technological characteristics. This paper focuses on the techniques of surface treatment of ceramic containers, more concretely in the application of engobes and washes of red hue.
