Pretende-se, em primeiro lugar, fazer uma comparação entre o teatro aristotélico e o teatro estático de Maeterlinck. Em segundo lugar, faz-se uma comparação entre a linguagem poética de Artaud e a linguagem inútil de Maeterlinck para compreender como as ‘palavras inúteis’ formam a base de compreensão no teatro estático. Finalmente, interpreta-se o modo como as palavras inúteis funcionam no sistema de comunicação no teatro estático com o exemplo da peça Les Aveugles.This thesis aims to analyze how to interpret the concept of ‘useless words’ in the static theater of Maurice Maeterlinck. Firstly, a comparison is made between the Aristotelic theater and the static theater. Secondly, an interpretation of how the anti-Aristotelian theater forms a basis of understanding the concept of ‘useless words’ is put forth through a comparison between the poetic language of Artaud and the useless language of Maeterlinck.
