The 3-PG is a process based model developed in order to bridge the gap between empiric models and very detailed physiological models. It is a simple model based on the physiological processes. It requires few parameters and so, easy to obtain. Litlle investment in physiological models has been done in Portugal, and the only examples are the application of the MAESTRO model to E. globulus, the application of the model FOREST-BGC to E. globulus and Pinus pinaster in Portugal and the implementation of PROMOD for the Portuguese conditions. Overall, the model showed quite reasonable results in predicting the biomass above ground. Given the limitations we can not say with certainty and security that this set of parameters allows a widespread use for Portugal. The results are promising, but more studies and measurements are necessary, especially of biomass accumulation in order to be able to achieve a single set of parameters.porPinus pinastermodellingcalibrationphysiological base models3PGmodelos de base fisiológicamodelaçãocalibraçãoCalibração do modelo 3-PG para povoamentos de pinheiro bravo (Pinus pinaster) em Portugalmaster thesis
