Thus, its local biophysical, historical, and cultural characteristics were studied. A special focus was given to its architecture. The case of Macao was studied in what concerns the protection of its heritage, considering that its historic centre is in the UNESCO‟s World Heritage List since 2005, and the relationship between its economy and tourism. Macao´s historic gardens, as a heritage whose uniqueness derives from the intercultural living that characterizes the territory, play a key part in the diversification of local tourism. In this work, its history, influences and particularities were studied and an evaluation of each historic garden was made.
