Resumo: | This project corresponds to the process of a practical and theoretical search for the Space of Intention. With this research we intend to materialize the subjective and the ephemeral. We seek to give form to the space that exists between the moment when an idea arises for the creation of a sculptural object and when it is materialized in space. Using the molding technique, we create objects with a negative volumetry based on the gesture of tensing/pushing the material, to which we associate the moment when the intention arises, the impulse to create, the tension felt inside. Using the same technique, with another material, we shape the emptiness stored in the first object and obtain a replica of the gesture and the tension deposited in the material, a positive. The Space of Intention corresponds, in practice, to the space between the confrontation of these two objects created from the gesture that is frozen in space and shapes its boundaries. Throughout the dissertation we have followed a methodology that is both intuitive and rational. As we expose the form through practice, through theory, we try to understand whether the "Space of Intention" can be a concept. We study the body, from which we define the scale of the work; as the link between interior and exterior spaces and the first tool for doing a sculpture. To deal with gesture, we looked at the philosophy of dance and gesture as a means of producing visual art. We delve into the representation of the pause in sculpture and performance, in order to better support the freezing of the gesture and look into the two sides of the work, beyond its physicality. The research is supported by works by authors of both forms and writings, with the Intention with which they were made being our focus as it is the object of study that we intend to bring into the space from our individual practice |
