Abstract

Revisiting an old photograph in the photopainting technique in a family album awakened senses and feelings that instigated the purpose of this investigation. From that image, technique, signs and meanings were being unraveled where the question prevails: what is the relationship between drawing and photography?; what is there to draw in the photographic process? This investigation points to the convergences between the two processes and ends up also becoming a comprehensive study on the construction of images in general and their subjectivity, revealing how this construction is intertwined with our senses, desires and primary needs for connection and understanding of the world. Therefore, it was necessary to approach the two disciplines from a phenomenological perspective in order to go beyond pre-established technical standards, manifesting the complex essence of our relationship with images in general
