This Project intends to develop and investigate the process of creating an animation, based on the interests and artistic journey of the author. The aim is to answer the question: In animation, how do the natural elements and the human figure interact? The main objective concerns the execution of the project, using the methodologies described in the theoretical investigation. The work is divided into a theoretical section and a practical section. The theoretical section studies the area of Effects Animation that exists within the animation industry, focusing on traditional hand-drawn animation. A summary of its history and differences with other areas, such as Visual Effects. The existing methodologies in Effects Animation are described, namely those articulated by Joseph Gilland and Mauro Maressa. The practical section begins by contextualizing the artistic path that led to the creation of the animation project. The main artistic influences are mentioned, within the themes of movement, the natural elements, and the human figure. Three phases are presented for the practical project: Pre-production, Production and Post-production. Each step in the creation of the animation is described, supported by the methodologies expressed in the theoretical section. Difficulties and challenges are presented while articulating the concept of the project, which represents the four traditional elements: Fire, Earth, Water and Air. Final reflections that resulted from the execution of the animation and the investigation are presented.pt_PT
