Lucernas romanas de Ossonoba: o conjunto a intervenção da Rua Infante D. Henrique nº 58-60 (Faro, Portugal)

Abstract

Apresenta-se neste trabalho o resultado do estudo do conjunto de lucernas romanas recolhido no decorrer da escavação arqueológica levada a cabo, em 2004, na Rua Infante D. Henrique Nº 58-60 (Faro, Portugal). Esta intervenção foi executada num sítio pertencente à cidade romana de Ossonoba que teve a sua cronologia definida entre a primeira metade do século I d.C. e o primeiro terço/ metade do século V. O estudo ceramológico que aqui apresentamos teve como principais focos a análise crono-tipológica, assim como da iconografia e da epigrafia presente nos fragmentos de lucerna. O conjunto estudado apresenta uma grande diversidade em termos de morfologias e a cronologia que reflecte uma ocupação mais intensa do sítio encontra-se balizada entre meados do século I e final do III/início do IV.

This work presents the results of the study of the set of roman lamps collected during the archaeological excavation carried out in 2004 at Rua Infante D. Henrique Nº 58-60 (Faro, Portugal). This intervention was carried out in a site that use to belong to the roman city of Ossonoba and that had its chronology defined between the first half of the 1st century AD and the first third/half of the 5th. The ceramological study that we present here had as main focus the chronotypological analysis, as well as the iconography and epigraphy present in the lamp fragments. The studied set presents a great diversification in terms of morphologies and the chronology that reflects a more intense occupation of the site is marked out between the middle of the 1st century and the end of the 3rd/ beginning of the 4th.
