O arquivo da Paróquia de São João Baptista do Lumiar (Lisboa)

Abstract

A presente dissertação final de mestrado, elaborada no âmbito do Mestrado em Ciências da Documentação e Informação da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa, tem como objetivo identificar, caraterizar e contextualizar o conteúdo do Arquivo Paroquial da Igreja de São João Baptista, em Lisboa. Para tal, procura-se perceber as tipologias de documentos, bem como o contexto da sua produção, que constitui parte do património cultural à guarda da Fábrica da Igreja Paroquial. O estudo tem por base a seguinte questão de investigação: Qual a documentação que sobreviveu até à atualidade no arquivo da igreja de São João Baptista do Lumiar? De modo a responder à pergunta de partida, bem como aos objetivos, o presente estudo segue uma abordagem de natureza qualitativa, e ancora-se no método de Investigação Documental (Silva, 2021). A documentação acumulada presente neste Arquivo encontra-se compreendida entre os séculos XVII e XX. Do presente estudo realizado neste Arquivo Paroquial resultou a elaboração de inventários, onde é possível observar a organização que se fez neste arquivo tendo em conta as normas arquivísticas internacionais, designadamente a ISAD (G) e a ISAAR (CPF). Com a elaboração destes instrumentos de acesso à informação é, hoje, possível ter-se um conhecimento muito mais aprofundado da informação acumulada na paróquia e, sobretudo, promover o acesso à mesma, visando a valorização da história e do património da igreja de São João Baptista.

This final master’s dissertation, developed within the scope of the master’s degree in Documentation and Information Sciences in the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, aims to identify, characterize, and contextualize the content of the Parish Parochial Archives of the church of St. John the Baptiste in Lumiar. To this end, it seeks to understand the types of documents, as well as the context of their production, which constitute part of the cultural heritage in the custody of the Parish Church. The study is based on the following research question: What documentation has survived to the present day in the archive of the church St. John the Baptiste in Lumiar? To answer the starting question, as well as the objectives, this study follows a qualitative approach, and is anchored in the Documentary Research method (Silva, 2021). The accumulated documentation present in this Archive is from the 16th to the 20th centuries. The present study carried out in this Parish Archive resulted in the preparation of inventories, where it is possible to observe the organization that was done in this archive considering the international archival standards, namely ISAD (G) and ISAAR (CPF). With the elaboration of these finding aids, it is now possible to have a much deeper knowledge of the information accumulated in the parish and, above all, to promote access to it, aiming to value the history and heritage of the church of São João Baptista.
