Resumo: | Algures da Auscultação is the result of an investigation/creation where sound memory is inscribed as a territory of experimentation from the question: how to recreate a remembered sound? Sound is the main reason for summoning testimonies that narrate sounds remembered and whose formal proposal derives an audiovisual installation. From the testimony of fragments of memory reproduced in the center of the piece, images are born referring to the evoked sounds; the gesture, the word transcription and the file circulate in different layers of tulle thus creating a sound memory device. The research was based on the collection of testimonies in Lisbon — Portugal, which explored the possible ways in which an event from the past is brought to the present through memory. This action of remembering emphasizes memories that have some relation with sound: situations in which a sound event remains in force like central source of a particular situation, or a characteristic sound gesture of the past, or any other reference that comes close to the listening of who remembers. These actions that frame the work, raised conceptual questions about multimedia creation in relation to the interaction of media —the relation between image / word, sound / word, sound / image, etc.— but also about human perception of the memory of others, that is, reciprocity in relation to the memory that takes place between the interviewees and the spectators of the work. In the theoretical / practical construction of the project, the concepts of memory — as a scenario of inquiry for listening to the past— and translation —as a methodological script inserted in the plastic creation of the piece— are worked on, based on the authors' analysis Paul Ricoeur, Walter Benjamin, George Steiner and Michel Chion. These concepts are confronted with the works of the artists Oscar Muñoz, Chris Marker and John Cage through which both concepts and processes of creation of the installation are developed |
