Musealização da migração. Memória ou esquecimento

Abstract

Este ensaio procurará reflectir os percursos históricos da emigração portuguesa e da imigração alemã no século XX, que em muitos momentos se cruzam. Será tida em conta também a importância que estes fenómenos migratórios tiveram na formação da identidade cultural de ambos os países. Abordar-se-á a natureza e a importância dos Museus da Emigração como locais de memória indispensáveis à identidade cultural destas duas nações europeias, sobretudo num momento em que a Europa é um dos destinos preferenciais da imigração internacional e é necessário que a população encontre no seu passado de migrações a compreensão necessária ao contacto com os imigrantes.

This essay will seek to reflect the historicals ways of portugueses emigration and german immigration on the 20th century, in wich many moments intersect. It will also be considered the importance that this migrations phenomena had in the formation of cultural identity’s in both countries. The nature and importance of the Emigration Museums will be approached as essential locations to the memory of this two european nations, especially at a time when Europe is one of the most chosen destinations for international immigration. Therefore it is necessary that the population finds in its own past migrations the necessary understanding to contact with immigrants.
