Resumo: | The word “Tinta” (Paint) in grammar is a feminine noun of “Tinto”, from the latin word “tinctus” means dye, to dye or paint. On the other hand, “Acrylic” a masculine noun, refers to the acid which forms water-soluble polymers. Acrylic paint is composed of pigment and acrylic medium. This vehicle has its origins in petroleum-based plastic components. Note that this paint as a final product has a low degree of toxicity, but the production of its vehicle is initially derived from a polluting environment. This water-based ink was developed in the second half of the forties, in the twentieth century, for industrial purpose. It was intended to cover interior and exterior painting of buildings, and turned the attention of other markets, particularly the artistic community. In 1955, Liquitex released the first artistic approach of this new type of paint and later the Rowney Company introduced it in Europe. Acrylic has been used by artists exploring their capacity and skills as an alternative to oil painting. The fact of being an aqueous based ink has allowed its interrelation with other plastic media, generating a plurality of mixed techniques. Information about acrylic paint was gathered, mentioning its features and potential in the art field. The research in question aims to understand the materials, the tools used, and technologies used for the construction of the paint work. The introduction of this layer made it possible for the user to a progressive aproach, allowing a freer action, according to its characteristics of toxicity, flexible capacity and the drying time. The research in question is engaged in the synthesis of some acquired knowledge and blend with new data in an thorough and continuous study on non-toxic and alternative means for daily use in the painting work creation. The historical context of emergence of acrylic paint, its contemporaneity and its technical features are introduced as main themes |
