Resumo: We were able to conclude that geographical concentration (the smithian «extent of the market») limits both the degree of specialization of productive tasks and the degree of autonomous firm formation by vertical disintegration. On the other hand, the institutional framework of production matters: the less capital (human and physical) is saved by the division of labor - as it occurs with Japanese production management - the more firms are vertically disintegrated and the higher geographical concentration should be..
