Abstract

A infraestrutura ferroviária é um elemento estruturante de uma cidade, promovendo novos territórios urbanos, ao mesmo tempo, fragmentando os tecidos. O conceito transformação, a partir dos processos evolutivos dos tecidos urbanos e da infraestrutura como fragmentação e continuidade (temática elegida neste Projeto Final de Mestrado) é aplicado a este território como linha condutora, com vista a recoser os fragmentos deixados pela infraestrutura ferroviária. São analisadas intervenções similares, para compreender os conceitos temáticos e o papel dos elementos ferroviários num tecido, procurando uma linha charneira que os aproxime e, ao mesmo tempo, os distinga. É apresentado o enquadramento e caracterização de Setúbal, com o ponto de vista urbanístico, geográfico e histórico. Com a análise dos conceitos estudados, é elaborado o plano de estrutura A Cidade com Espaço de Interface, caraterizado por um percurso amarrado à linha férrea, articulando espaços, identidades e memórias.

ABSTRACT: The railway infrastructure is a structural element of a city, promoting new urban areas but which at the same time, break the urban fabric. The concept of transformation, based on the evolutionary processes of urban fabrics and infrastructure, such as fragmentation and continuity (theme chosen in this Final Master's Project) is applied to this territory as a common thread, in order to restore the fragments left by the railway infrastructure, Similar interventions are analyzed to understand how the thematic concepts and the role of railway elements in a fabric, looking for a hinge line that brings them together and, at the same time, distinguishes them. The framework and characterization of Setúbal is presented, with an urban, geographical and historical point of view. Once the analysis of the studied concepts is completed, the structure plan The City with Interface Space is elaborated, characterized by a path tied to the railway line, articulating spaces, identities and memories.
