A Cooperação Sul-Sul entre Angola e China e a soberania angolana: Uma leitura sob a óptica da governação do MPLA

Abstract

A dissertação que apresentamos visa compreender a cooperação sino-angolana, no pós-guerra civil em Angola, sobretudo quanto à gestão da soberania angolana conduzida pelo partido Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola. Com efeito, o trabalho procura entender como o MPLA estrutura a sua noção de soberania na cooperação sul-sul com o Estado Chinês, no âmbito da reconstrução nacional. O trabalho refere-se a um período cronológico que vai desde o início do século XXI, mais concretamente no final da guerra civil (2002), até ao período da ascensão ao poder do Presidente João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço (2017). A dissertação tem como objetivo analisar e caracterizar o partido MPLA no sistema político angolano, na perspectiva de perceber como o MPLA, durante este período, preservou a sua soberania e em que medida a cooperação com a China contribuiu para o fortalecimento do MPLA em Angola. Nesta pesquisa, socorremo-nos das teorias do pós-colonialismo e do pós-modernismo, pois, ambas abordagens se complementam pelo facto de criticarem o eurocentrismo. Relativamente à metodologia empregue no trabalho, optamos pela abordagem qualitativa que nos permitiu ter um conhecimento abrangente sobre o objecto de estudo. As nossas investigações permitiram identificar que o MPLA controla as estruturas estatais em Angola, diminuindo o espaço dos outros partidos no cenário político, aumentando, assim, a sua influência e primazia no sistema político angolano.

This dissertation aims to understand Sino-Angolan cooperation in post-civil war Angola, especially in terms of the management of Angolan sovereignty by the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola party. In effect, the work seeks to understand how the MPLA structures its notion of sovereignty in south-south cooperation with the Chinese state, in the context of national reconstruction. The work refers to a chronological period that goes from the beginning of the 21st century, more specifically at the end of the civil war (2002), to the period of President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço's rise to power (2017). The dissertation aims to analyse and characterise the MPLA party in the Angolan political system, with a view to understanding how the MPLA preserved its sovereignty during this period and to what extent cooperation with China contributed to strengthening the MPLA in Angola. In this research, we used the theories of post-colonialism and post-modernism, as both approaches complement each other by criticising Eurocentrism. With regard to the methodology employed in the work, we opted for the qualitative approach, which allowed us to have a comprehensive knowledge of the object of study. Our research has allowed us to identify that the MPLA controls state structures in Angola, reducing the space of other parties on the political scene, thus increasing its influence and primacy in the Angolan political system.
