dc.description.abstract | Due to her experience as an Art student in both Portugal and the United Kingdom, the author questions why the practice of taking students to draw in museums is rare in Portugal. She begins by comparing the national curriculum for the subject of Desenho A with the Cambridge international curriculum for Art & Design, concluding that the answer she seeks cannot stem from curriculum differences, as she finds considerable similarities between the two programs. Consequently, she turns to the history of art education in Portugal and the United Kingdom to explore whether the reason for differing practices regarding drawing in museums might lie there, but she also concludes that they developed in parallel. She then investigates museum education and its relationship with schools, attempting to determine whether biases between the two institutions prevent collaboration, concluding that, despite certain obstacles, the relationship between museums and schools is one of significant cooperation. In examining the mimetic method to justify the activity of drawing in museums, she also discovers that this technique, although old, still holds value in current teaching. Surveys were sent to schools and teachers of both subjects to better understand the reasons behind the scarcity of this activity, and much of what she found in her research was confirmed. Finally, the author shares an experience of taking her students to a museum, drawing conclusions about the practice and offering suggestions for its optimal utilization. | pt_PT |
