O Doutor António Nunes de Carvalho, homem dedicado à memória, desempenhou um papel importante na
valorização do património nacional. Liberal, académico, antigo exilado político, ocupou o cargo de encarregado
do Depósito das Livrarias dos Extintos Conventos, altura em que defendeu a conservação da Arrábida, sítio com história e caraterísticas únicas. Propomo-nos revelar mais sobre uma personalidade com importantes contactos e uma ação interventiva na sociedade da época, fazendo parte das correntes liberal e romântica que contribuíram para a implementação de políticas patrimoniais na primeira metade do século XIX.
Doctor António Nunes de Carvalho, man dedicated to the memory, played an important role in the enhancement of national heritage. Liberal, academic, former political exile, he served in charge of Deposit of Libraries of Extinct Convents, when he defended the conservation of Arrábida, place with history and unique features. We propose to reveal more about a personality with important contacts and an interventive action in the society of that time, as part of the liberal and romantic currents that contributed to the implementation of heritage policies during the first half of the 19th century.
