Two novel diglycosylated steroidal alkaloids of 5 Delta-pregnene nucleus, named obtusine-20(R)-O-[beta-thevetopyranosyl-(1--4)-beta cymaropyranoside] and obtusolactam-20(R)-O-[beta-thevetopyranosyl-(1 -- 4)-beta-cymaropyranoside]. together with the known beta- sitosteryl-3-O-beta-glucopyranoside were isolated from the roots of Cryptolepis obtusa N.
