Cada destino possui uma marca própria, uma singularidade que o torna diferente dos outros
e, por isso, torna-se um atrativo diferencial para muitos dos visitantes com motivações
culturais. Todas as sociedades rurais ou urbanas possuem cultura. O turismo é
essencialmente cultural, ou seja, a cultura faz parte das práticas turísticas. Existem
diferentes tipologias para definir o turista cultural, mas todas elas podem ser encontradas ao
mesmo tempo num lugar turístico (cidade, vila ou aldeia). As experiências dos turistas
culturais podem ser profundas ou superficiais. Elas dependem essencialmente da natureza
cultural do destino. O presente artigo aborda, através de exemplos, a relação entre a cultura,
o turismo e o turista.
Each destination has its own brand, a singularity that makes it different from others, and therefore, becomes an attractive differential for many visitors with cultural motivations. All rural and urban societies have culture. Tourism is essentially cultural. In other words, culture is part of the tourism practices. There are different typologies to define the cultural tourist, but all of them can be found at the same time in a tourist place (city, town or village). The experiences of cultural tourists can be deep or shallow. They depend essentially on the cultural nature of destination. This paper discusses, through examples, the relationship between culture, tourism and the tourist.
