This document is divided into two parts: the internship report (Part I) and the monograph (Part II). The report refers to the curricular internship of the 2nd semester of the 2nd year of the Master's Degree in Clinical Analysis at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, which took place at the Fernanda Galo Clinical Analysis Laboratory in Tomar. The equipment and respective methodologies are described, as well as how quality control is carried out and some of the possible interferences in the pre-analytical, biochemistry, hematology and immunology areas. The monograph is inserted in the area of Biochemistry, giving relevance to pregnant women and the physiological changes they present, with a focus on liver function. Topics such as etiology, diagnosis through clinical manifestations and laboratory findings, as well as complications and treatment of two pathologies exclusive to pregnancy are covered: intrahepatic cholestasis and HELLP syndrome (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelets).
