Abstract(s)

In this paper statistical data about tobacco consumption and its effects on health are presented. A summary about tobacco research at Instituto Superior de Agronomia is made and a study of ETS in inner places of the school is presented. The aim of this study was to characterise cabinets and leisure places with tobacco pollution by gas chromatography quantification of nicotine, minor alkaloids and 3-ethenylpyridine.
