Esta
foi
a
pergunta
de
partida
da
presente
dissertação,
resultante
da
experiência
de
formação
e
do
confronto
com
uma
escassez
de
meios
conceptuais
para
elencar
os
elementos
determinantes
de
um
desempenho
eficaz.
Em
contrapartida,
os
formandos
experienciam
uma
abordagem
do
género
tentativa-‐erro,
ao
longo
da
qual
lhes
são
claramente
assinalados
os
desempenhos
mais
bem
sucedidos,
que
servirão
depois
como
modelo
prático
para
os
desempenhos
futuros.
Perante
aquilo
que
na
altura
foi
percebido
como
uma
insuficiência,
interrogámo-‐nos
sobre
o
potencial
da
estética
do
performativo
e
dos
seus
conceitos
para
ampliar
a
paleta
conceptual
ao
nosso
dispor
para
uma
tal
reflexão.
Analisaremos
três
conceitos-‐chave
da
estética
do
performativo:
liminaridade,
autopoiesis
e
poder
transformativo.
Começaremos
por
um
enquadramento
teórico
quer
dos
Estudos
de
Interpretação
quer
da
estética
do
performativo.
Os
capítulos
subsequentes
irão
analisar
cada
um
dos
três
conceitos-‐chave
e
procurar
retirar
conclusões
acerca
das
intersecções
entre
as
duas
actividades.
Deste
modo,
procuraremos
reunir
elementos
para
responder
à
pergunta
de
partida
e
contribuir
para
a
reflexão
acerca
da
Interpretação
de
Conferência.
Is there a ground to say from Conference Interpreting that it has a performative nature? This question arose amidst the training context (as a student), due to a perceived scarcity of conceptual means to pass on to trainees the decisive elements that allow us to say what makes a given performance an effective one. Instead, the trainees experience a trial-‐error approach, during which they are told when a performance is clearly satisfying, and that it is to be used as a role model for future ones. This initially perceived insufficiency led us to ask about the potencial of the aesthetics of the performative and its concepts in order to expand the conceptual framework that we can use to reflect on conference interpreting. We will be analysing three fundamental concepts against the backdrop of the aesthetics of the performative: liminality, autopoiesis and transformative power. We will begin with a theoretical framework, followed by an attempt to bring to light both the fundamental meaning of ‘interpreting’ and the fundamental concepts of the aesthetics of the performative. The subsequent chapters will address the three concepts (liminality, autopoiesis and transformative power), putting them in context, first, and infering potential intersections with the particularities of conference interpreting afterwards. By bringing these concepts on board we hope to contribute to an answer to that original question and to broaden the range of conceptual instruments at our disposal to a critical reflection on Conference Interpreting.
