Abstract(s)
According to the pre-established protocol signed between the Lagos district, the Faculty of Letters of Lisbon University and Uniarq, between the years of 2006 and 2007, two archaeological campaigns were carried out to study Monte MoliĆ£o. This field work gathered important data about the ancient occupation of the site, mostly about its architectonic features. The recovered materials allowed us to clarify some issues related to the interaction and integration of the site in the surrounding area along its human occupation. It is now possible to establish, and precisely determine the beginning of the human occupation in late Iron Age. We were also able to establish an early roman republican occupation, according to artefacts and archaeological structures found. Although itās ancient occupation, the site acquires greater importance during the Roman Empire, and it is abandoned shortly after, in the middle II c. A.D.
