dc.description.abstract"Lutas Laborais e Formação da Classe Operária Portuguesa" é o último grande contributo de José Tengarrinha para a historiografia portuguesa. Livro póstumo, apresenta ao público o resultado de longos anos de investigação sobre os movimentos reivindicativos dos trabalhadores portugueses, centrando-se na história dos seus primeiros protagonistas e das suas primeiras greves. Terreno em grande parte ignorado, segundo o autor. O arco cronológico analisado estende-se desde o século XVII, com os antecedentes dos protestos laborais, prosseguindo pelo liberalismo até às revoltas populares de 1867-1869. Termina numa extensa análise dos primeiros anos da década de 1870, quando o movimento operário ganha uma nova qualidade, iniciando uma frase ofensiva. José Tengarrinha insiste na necessidade de uma visão longa para poder avaliar a existência de continuidades nas lutas operárias e os seus impactos em lutas futuras; e questiona os conceitos de movimentos "espontâneos" e "organizados", situando-os no seu relacionamento com a esfera do poder e a sociedade em geral. Em suma, procura compreender a evolução de uma consciência das classes trabalhadoras de si próprias, a caminho da sua politização.pt_PT
dc.description.abstract"Lutas Laborais e Formação da Classe Operária Portuguesa" is José Tengarrinha's last major contribution to Portuguese historiography. A posthumous book, it presents to the public the result of long years of research on the Portuguese workers' protest movements, focusing on the history of their first protagonists and their first strikes. A largely ignored terrain, according to the author. The chronological arc analyzed extends from the 17th century, with the antecedents of labor protests, and continues through liberalism to the popular revolts of 1867-1869. It ends with an extensive analysis of the first years of the 1870s, when the labor movement gained a new quality, beginning an offensive phrase. José Tengarrinha insists on the need for a long view in order to be able to evaluate the existence of continuities in workers' struggles and their impacts on future struggles; and he questions the concepts of "spontaneous" and "organized" movements, situating them in their relationship with the sphere of power and society in general. In short, it seeks to understand the evolution of a working class consciousness of itself, on the way to its politicization.pt_PT
