Este estudo pretende salientar as variações nos relatos respeitantes ao episódio
do tiranicídio de 514 a.C., em Atenas, e a possibilidade de as representações do
acontecimento se relacionarem tanto com a fação aristocrática como com o partido
democrático, então em confronto na polis. Com efeito, acabamos por concluir que
as fontes sugerem ter havido um aproveitamento de um mesmo símbolo, o dos
Tiranicidas, tanto por parte da fação aristocrática como pelos democratas durante
o processo de transição do regime oligárquico para o democrático. E se isso
aconteceu é porque ambas as fações terão reconhecido a esse símbolo potencialidades
e funções político-imagéticas válidas.
This essay aims to emphasize the variations in the various reports about the episode of the tyrannicide of 514 b.C. in Athens, and the possibility that the representations of the event relate to both the aristocratic faction and the democratic party, in confrontation in the polis. In fact, we conclude that the sources suggest that there has been a use of the same symbol, the Tyrannicides, both by the Aristocratic faction and the Democrats during the process of transition from the Oligarchic to the Democratic regime. If this happened, it is because both factions have recognized valid political potentialities and functions in this symbol.
