Num tempo em que muitas trajetórias de vida se caracterizam por um futuro incerto e imprevisível – com frequentes entropias e disritmias etárias –, propõe-se uma reflexão sociológica em torno de gerações de futuro sombrio: de jovens sem expectativas de futuro, mesmo quando crescentemente escolarizados, a idosos com uma esperança de vida alongada, mas descrentes em relação ao sentido da vida. Dados de inquéritos internacionais e estudos de caso serão convocados na análise de ansiedades de idade provocadas por frustrações e temores em relação ao futuro quando o presente é deficitário de esperança.
At a time when many paths of life are characterized by an uncertain and unpredictable future – with frequent age entropies and dysrhythmias – this paper proposes a sociological reflection on generations with a bleak future: from young people who, even with increased education, have no future expectations to old people with longer life expectancy, but skeptical about the meaning of life. Data from international surveys and case studies are used to analyze age-related anxieties caused by frustrations and fears about the future when the present holds no hope.
