This dissertation aims to implement a sheep farm, (Ovis aries) with focus on industrial crossbreeding for meat production. The project was conducted in Herdade das Silveiras, with 225 ha, located in the Évora district (Alentejo). An extensive research of sheep production in the World and in Portugal, especially in Alentejo, was conducted in order to develop this dissertation. Within the scope of this work, and considering the aforementioned farm, the breeds used in the project, the Ile de France and La Romane, were described, as well as their qualities and productive capacities. Various factors were taken into account: types of soils in the region, pastures and their respective productivities. In approximately 25% of the farm area, a bio diverse pasture, of grasses and legumes was implemented, in order to improve the quality and production of the natural pasture in the region. Additionally, four types of management were defined for the proper functioning of farm: general, reproductive, nutritional and sanitary managements of the herd, always considering adequate animal welfare practices. In order to assist management, infrastructures such as the sheep barn, a hay and feed warehouse and watering circuits were designed and dimensioned on all paddocks. After the characterization and organization of the company, the project was analyzed from a financial point of view, which resulted in that, considering the forecast of income and expenses, during the defined period, it is a feasible project.
